Pulsar or Coris: what actually changes when you need a doctor abroad?

Pulsar editorial team · Checked on 2026-10-01 against the conditions Coris Asistencia al Viajero publishes.

Coris sells travel assistance under the name Coris Asistencia al Viajero. This page reads its Argentina conditions document, whose start date is printed as 26 September 2026, and the Coris Argentina pages that go with it, next to Pulsar's terms.

The conditions we read print no table of medical limits per plan. They point the limit to the plan and the voucher [1]. So we compare contracts, not plan amounts.

Is Coris insurance, and who is behind it?

Not by its own description. The conditions say the traveler understands this is "un producto de asistencia en viajes" [a travel assistance product] and that, if it is offered through an insurance company, it is not an international medical insurance policy [1]. Their page puts it this way: "Coris Asistencia al viajero no es una empresa de seguros, sino que actúa en calidad de tomadora en beneficio de sus clientes" [Coris travel assistance is not an insurance company but acts as policyholder for the benefit of its clients] [2].

The conditions say the services are provided by CORIS ASISTENCIA AL VIAJERO, represented in Argentina by Compañía de Asistencia Integral S.A., with an address in Buenos Aires [1]. Their "Sobre nosotros" page describes its own network of more than 40 operating centers worldwide [5].

Pulsar is sold by Asteroid LLC in Aventura, Florida. Assistance and claims are run by MDabroad (US & UK Medical Abroad, LLC), and medical benefits are insured by the insurer named in the voucher email [10].

How are the plans and limits set?

The conditions refer to limits shown on the voucher, and to a deductible (II.h): "En caso de tener un deducible en su producto, el TITULAR asumirá a su costo el monto del deducible" [if your product has a deductible, the holder pays that amount] [1]. Their published conditions do not state plan names or medical amounts.

Pulsar has four plans, with medical limits per person of USD 30,000 (Basic; EUR 30,000 on Europe trips), USD 50,000 (Standard), USD 100,000 (Superior) and USD 150,000 (Prime). The plans sold on the site have no deductible [10].

Do I have to call before seeing a doctor?

As a general rule, yes: "El TITULAR deberá, como regla general, tomar contacto previamente con la Central de Asistencia" [the holder must, as a general rule, contact the Assistance Center beforehand]. Where authorization was neither requested nor obtained, "no procederán reembolsos algunos, ni darán derechos a reclamos" [no reimbursement will proceed, nor give rights to claims]. In an emergency, notice is due within 24 hours of the event [1].

With Pulsar you call first too. In network, the clinic bills Pulsar directly. People answer 24/7 by phone and WhatsApp in Spanish, English or Portuguese, and the Promise says a person answers within 60 seconds [10][8].

How do reimbursements work, and how long do they take?

Their reimbursement page says: "Una vez recibida la documentación, se procederá a su evaluación en un tiempo estimado de: hasta 30 días" [once the documents are received, evaluation will take an estimated time of up to 30 days] [3]. It requires that the traveler contacted the Central "antes o durante las 24hs. de sucedido el evento" [before or within 24 hours of the event] [3]. The conditions (Article XV) set the rest: original documents within 30 calendar days after the voucher ends, 30 calendar days to analyze the case, then payment within 15 days of receiving the bank details in writing [1].

For Pulsar, check the issued plan terms for reimbursement timelines.

What about pre-existing conditions?

Article II.l defines a pre-existing illness as any process with "un origen o etiología anterior a la fecha de inicio de la vigencia" [an origin or etiology before the start date of validity], known to the holder or not [1]. For excluded illnesses, the provider "sólo tomará a su cargo gastos de la primera Atención Médica hasta el tope indicado en su CERTIFICADO o VOUCHER" [will only pay the first medical attention up to the cap in the certificate or voucher] [1]. Their FAQ says some plans cover chronic conditions that turn into acute episodes [6].

Pulsar does not cover pre-existing conditions, except acute heart attack and stroke, covered regardless of history. An optional upgrade (USD 15,000 or 20,000) covers acute episodes of listed chronic conditions [10].

Is there an age limit?

Article III.b says the beneficiary may use the services "hasta las 23:59 horas antes de completar la edad límite del plan contratado" [until 23:59 before reaching the age limit of the contracted plan] [1]. The conditions leave the age limit to each product; the only age printed is an example of how it is counted [1].

Pulsar's maximum age is 85 at purchase. From 65, the medical limit applies at 75 percent [10].

How long can a trip be?

Article III sets "Viaje único" plans at a maximum validity of 120 consecutive days, and "Larga Estadía" plans at up to 365 consecutive days [1]. Annual multi-trip plans carry a per-trip cap of 30, 60 or 90 days [1].

Pulsar's maximum trip is 180 days, with up to 9 travelers per quote [10].

Is there telemedicine?

The conditions and pages we read do not describe a telemedicine benefit. Their page lists a mobile app called Coris GO [2].

Pulsar includes unlimited telemedicine on every plan, with no charge per consultation and nothing counted against the medical limit [10].

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Article IV.12, only on products whose particular conditions include it, applies when a scheduled commercial flight with a confirmed reservation is delayed more than 6 consecutive hours, or is cancelled. Coris reimburses "gastos razonables y necesarios de alojamiento, alimentación y comunicaciones" [reasonable and necessary lodging, food and communication expenses] up to the voucher limit. You must contact the assistance center before leaving the terminal [1].

Pulsar today reimburses reasonable expenses for delays over 12 consecutive hours (clause 38) [7]. Flight delay, with Blink Parametric: register your flight 24 hours ahead and get a lounge pass if it is delayed, live now. An automatic USD 50 payment for a delay of 2 hours or more is coming November 2026. Eligible flights per the terms on your voucher.

Can I cancel and get my money back?

Article III.d lets the holder cancel up to the third business day before the start date on the voucher, with a refund of the amount paid after a 20 percent retention, or a new voucher with new dates for the same length [1]. Their regret page gives a right of "DIEZ (10) días corridos" [ten calendar days] for services contracted only through their website's e-commerce channel [4].

Pulsar refunds in full within 10 days of purchase if the trip has not started and nothing was used. After that, 80 percent back or a free date change until 3 business days before cover starts [7][10].

How am I charged?

Coverage limits in the conditions are expressed in US dollars or euros [1]. Article XV says reimbursements are paid in Argentine pesos by bank transfer at the Central Bank rate [1], and their reimbursement page says indemnities are paid "en pesos Argentinos, tomando el tipo cambio oficial" [in Argentine pesos at the official exchange rate] in the country of origin [3]. The pages we read do not say in which currency the plan is charged.

Pulsar charges in your own currency (COP, MXN, PEN, CLP and others) at the prior day's market rate plus 1 percent, rounded up. A refund is the same amount in the same currency [10].

Anything unusual in their conditions?

Two clauses. If the beneficiary is still hospitalized when the voucher expires, the provider pays hospital costs for 7 additional days (Article III) [1]. And a plan bought after you arrive at your destination needs the Central's "autorización previa, expresa y verificable" [prior, express and verifiable authorization], and the voucher may set a waiting period "de entre setenta y dos (72) horas y diez (10) días" [of between 72 hours and ten days] [1].

When might Coris be the better choice?

If your flight is delayed 8 hours and your product includes the benefit, their conditions start paying after 6; Pulsar's current trigger is 12 [1][7]. If you are moving or studying for many months, their Larga Estadía plans run up to 365 days, and Pulsar's maximum trip is 180 [1][10]. If you are already at your destination and need cover, their conditions describe a route for buying then, with authorization and a waiting period (Article III) [1].

How do I choose?

Four checks work for any product. First, find the document for your own country and read its start date. Second, find the clause that says what happens if you do not call first. Third, read the pre-existing definition and what is paid for a first consultation. Fourth, compare the refund rule before cover starts, in percentages.
