Pulsar or Falabella travel assistance: what actually changes when you need a doctor abroad?
Falabella sells travel assistance in Peru under the Seguros Falabella name, and the conditions we read carry a Peruvian tax number. [1] The conditions say the numbers that matter, the medical limits, are in the voucher emailed after purchase, so this page compares rules rather than plan against plan. [1] It is written for someone in Peru deciding between this and Pulsar. Every Falabella fact below comes from its conditions PDF or its help center, read on October 1, 2026. We could not read a comparable conditions document for Falabella's Colombia and Chile sites, so they are not covered.
Who is behind the product, and who do you deal with?
The conditions end with the line: "Asistencias de Viajes comercializadas por Falabella Servicios Generales S.A.C., R.U.C. N° 20510400233, con el respaldo de A365 y MOK" [travel assistance sold by Falabella Servicios Generales S.A.C., RUC 20510400233, backed by A365 and MOK]. [1] The help center has one page for each of A365 and MOK, with the same reimbursement steps on both. [2][3] The conditions do not describe what A365 or MOK each do. [1] Pulsar is sold by Asteroid LLC in Aventura, Florida; assistance and claims are run by MDabroad (US & UK Medical Abroad, LLC), in international medical assistance since 2000, with 85,000+ contracted providers in 150+ countries. [7]
What are the medical limits and the plans?
The conditions say maximum amounts vary by the plan chosen and are detailed in the voucher or document sent to the holder's email. [1] Their published conditions do not state any amount. [1] Pulsar's plans are Basic USD 30,000 (EUR 30,000 on Europe trips), Standard USD 50,000, Superior USD 100,000 and Prime USD 150,000 medical per person, with no deductible on the plans sold on the site. [7]
Are pre-existing conditions covered?
The exclusions list opens its second item with: "Enfermedades crónicas y/o preexistentes, sean estas del conocimiento o no, así como sus agudizaciones, secuelas y consecuencias directas o indirectas" [chronic and/or pre-existing diseases, whether known or not, as well as their flare-ups, sequelae and direct or indirect consequences] (¿Qué no cubre?, item 2). [1] Yet the coverage table at the top of the same document lists "Gastos médicos por enfermedad preexistente" [medical expenses for pre-existing illness], with the amount left to the voucher, and the conditions do not explain how that line fits with exclusion item 2. [1] If pre-existing cover matters to you, ask Falabella to show the amount and its terms in writing before you pay. Pulsar does not cover pre-existing conditions either, except acute heart attack and stroke, covered regardless of history; an optional upgrade (USD 15,000 or 20,000) covers acute episodes of listed chronic conditions. [7]
What are the age limits, and what changes from 65?
Their published conditions do not state a maximum age or a different benefit level from 65. [1] Pulsar sells up to age 85 at purchase; from 65 the medical limit applies at 75 percent. [7]
How long can the trip be?
Their published conditions do not state a maximum trip length. [1] They do say cover runs from the day marked "inicio del viaje" until 23:59 on the day marked "fin del viaje", If you are in hospital for a covered illness or accident when cover ends, hospitalization expenses continue "hasta ocho (8) días adicionales contados desde el día de finalización de vigencia del voucher" [up to eight additional days counted from the end date of the voucher], or until the cover is used up or you are discharged. [1] Pulsar's maximum is 180 days. [7]
Is there a deductible?
Their published conditions do not state a deductible. [1] Pulsar has no deductible on the plans sold on its site. [7]
How do you get care: call first, direct billing or reimbursement?
The conditions require the call or notice "a más tardar dentro de las 24 horas de haber sucedido la emergencia" [at the latest within 24 hours of the emergency], and say that failing to do so "acarrea la pérdida automática de cualquier derecho de reclamo" [carries the automatic loss of any right to claim]. [1] The exclusions also list any medical expense or assistance not previously consulted and authorized by the Central de Servicios de Asistencia. [1] The conditions we read do not describe direct billing to clinics. [1] Pulsar also asks you to call first; in network the clinic bills Pulsar directly, and people answer 24/7 by phone and WhatsApp in Spanish, English or Portuguese. [7]
How long does reimbursement take?
Both help center pages say any reimbursement must be pre-authorized by the company. You have 30 days from the day the voucher's validity ends to submit documents; the company has 5 days to ask for anything missing, then 15 business days to analyze the case and issue an approval letter, then 15 business days to pay after receiving the data. [2][3] Payment is by bank transfer, postal money order or check. [2][3] For Pulsar, check the issued plan terms for reimbursement timelines.
Is there telemedicine?
The covered-items list includes "Orientación médica telefónica Tele Doctor 24 horas" [24-hour telephone medical guidance Tele Doctor]. [1] The conditions state no limit on it and do not say whether it counts against the plan limit. [1] On Pulsar, telemedicine is unlimited on every plan, with no charge per consultation and nothing counted against the medical limit. [7]
In what currency are you charged?
Their published conditions and help pages do not state the currency of the plans or of reimbursements. [1][2][3] Pulsar charges in the traveler's own currency (COP, MXN, PEN, CLP and others) at the prior day's market rate plus 1 percent, rounded up, and refunds the same amount in the same currency. [7]
What about cancellation and refunds?
Both help center pages say: "una vez iniciado tu viaje no es posible realizar cambios, anulaciones ni devoluciones del pago" [once your trip has started, changes, cancellations or refunds of the payment are not possible]. [2][3] The pages we read do not describe a refund before the start date. [1][2][3] Pulsar refunds in full within 10 days of purchase if the trip has not started and nothing was used; after that it returns 80 percent or offers a free date change until 3 business days before cover starts. [7]
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Falabella lists, in its "Vuelos y Equipaje" category, "Gastos por vuelo demorado o cancelado (Más de 6 horas)" [expenses for a delayed or cancelled flight (more than 6 hours)]. [1] Pulsar reimburses reasonable expenses for delays over 12 consecutive hours (clause 38). [4] Flight delay, with Blink Parametric: register your flight 24 hours ahead and get a lounge pass if it is delayed, live now. An automatic USD 50 payment for a delay of 2 hours or more is coming November 2026. Eligible flights per the terms on your voucher.
What else is distinctive in Falabella's conditions?
The exclusions list "Todo tipo de enfermedades mentales" [all kinds of mental illness] (item 10). [1] The sports exclusion (item 8) names dangerous or extreme sports "incluyendo pero no limitando a" [including but not limited to] a list that reads "Motociclismo, Automovilismo, Boxeo, Polo, Ski acuático, Buceo (hasta 30 metros máximo)" and others. [1] The covered list names COVID-19 expenses for a non-pre-existing illness and lodging and meals during mandatory isolation. [1]
When might Falabella be the better choice?
If a flight delay of 6 hours matters to you, Falabella's trigger is earlier than Pulsar's 12 hours, though its conditions do not say how much is paid. [1][4] If your voucher shows an amount for pre-existing illness, compare it with Pulsar, which covers pre-existing conditions only for acute heart attack and stroke or through its optional upgrade. [1][7] If you want COVID-19 spelled out, Falabella's conditions name it twice; check how the Pulsar terms treat it before you decide. [1][4] Its conditions also list categories for legal assistance, baggage and "Beneficios Complementarios" that you should lay next to the Pulsar terms line by line. [1][4] And we cannot tell you whether its limits are higher or lower than Pulsar's, because they are not published; if you buy from Falabella, get the voucher figures first. [1]
How do I choose?
Four checks work on any product. First, find the notice rule: 24 hours here, with loss of claim rights, so know the number before you fly. [1] Second, ask for the voucher before you pay, since limits, age and trip length may sit there and not in the conditions. [1] Third, read the exclusions for the things you actually have: a chronic condition, a sport, a mental health history. [1] Fourth, add up the reimbursement clock: 30 days to submit, 5 days to ask for papers, 15 business days to decide and 15 more to pay adds up to 35 days plus 30 business days. [2][3]
