Pulsar prices are set in US dollars, and you pay in your own currency: the exact amount we show you, with the dollar price underneath. Your bank does not convert anything. Some banks still add a fee for buying from a company abroad; that fee is your bank’s, not ours.
Which rate
The published market rate of the day before, plus 1% to cover what it costs us to take your payment in your currency. It is the same for everyone that day. We then round the total up to a round number, so you see COP 123,000 rather than COP 122,061; the rounding is never more than about 1%. Our rate and its date are printed next to every total. Rates by Exchange Rate API, updated once a day.
Which currency you are charged in
In your currency, by default: pesos in Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Argentina, soles in Peru, colones in Costa Rica, and so on. You can choose US dollars at checkout instead, or tell Nova. American Express does not take some of our currencies (COP, CLP, PEN, CRC, ARS among them), so with Amex there you pay the same price in US dollars. Ecuador, El Salvador and Panama use the US dollar, so you pay in dollars there. If we change the rate overnight before you pay, the page shows you the new total first.
How you can pay
- Cards through Stripe, charged in your currency, including Apple Pay and Google Pay where your device supports them. We never see or store your card number.
- Local methods (PSE, Efecty, OXXO, SPEI, PagoEfectivo) are coming. Until then, message us on WhatsApp and a person will help you pay another way.
Refunds and currency
If you cancel within 10 days of buying, before your trip starts, you get a full refund. After that, until 3 business days before your cover starts, you get 80% back (a 20% cancellation charge), or you can move your dates with no change fee instead. Check your issued voucher and cancellation terms for the refund amount and currency.
Claims
Reimbursements are paid in the currency of the country where we pay, at the official rate of the day before payment.
